that is the question I get asked again and again when I tell people : “no thank you I don’t eat that, I am vegan!” the answer to this is quite long. There are two main reasons why I went vegan. One is health related and the other bigger main reason is that I can’t stand for animal cruelty.
I think I will do a bigger post about the benefits that being a vegan brings, but one thing I can say for sure is that it changed my life around. my health and energy has improved. I don’t have to take any silly vitamins or supplements with this diet or lifestyle and it is dead easy to follow. once you figure out that there is milk or egg hidden in nearly everything you get the hang of things and start to enjoy whole plant based foods. I make my own lunches that I bring along and I save so much money. if I get a feeling for a snack I pop into a shop and buy some fresh fruit (mostly bananas or berries). there are endless health benefits why you should become a vegan, but I get to that another time, but if you are very curious, then find the documentary “the china study” or “forks over knives “. they are truly an eye opener!
My biggest reason though is animal cruelty. I lived under the great idea that animals in the european union are protected under laws and that animal cruelty does not exist here. what a delusion!!! some friends on facebook posted videos about industrial farming in europe and the consequences it has on the animals. not to mention that that turned me vegan over night. month later someone posted this video here on facebook and I think it changed the way of so many. have a look!
I can’t be a part in the criminal acts, that are done to animals all over the world. they have no wayto defend themselves. we must stand up for them. being vegan is not just a lifestyle change for a healthy life, it’s an act for a cruelty free world and to show some love to creatures that deserve it too!
don’t be cruel=go vegan
ps. all animals are eaten at in some place in the world. cats, dogs, horses, cows, pigs, rabbits… the list goes on and on. some of these animals we might consider as pets, but in other places there are just a food source!
